The Episcopal Church is part of The Anglican Communion, a confederation of 70 million people throughout the world who share a common heritage in The Church of England. The Anglican Church (or Episcopal, in the United States) is often said to be a "bridge church", combining the Catholic sacramental life with the Protestant emphasis on a personal relationship with God and democratic governance of the parish rooted in our shared, baptismal ministry.

The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin offers a loving community and a vibrant Christian faith in the Episcopal tradition. Originally built as a family chapel in 1890, Saint Mary's has been a part of the Diocese of Maine since 1902. While our church is in Falmouth, our Parish family comes from many surrounding communities, from Freeport to Scarborough to Windham, as well as Portland, Cumberland and Yarmouth.
