How to become a member of the Episcopal Church

There are two steps to be taken by anyone who wishes to become a member of the Episcopal Church: Baptism, which admits one to the full privileges of membership, and Confirmation.

If you have been baptized in a Christian church but not confirmed in the Episcopal Church, you join the Confirmation Class. Upon completion, you will be presented by the Rector to the Bishop of the Diocese to be Confirmed.

If you have not been Baptized or Confirmed, you join the same Confirmation Class. You will be Baptized before or as part of the Confirmation service.

If you are a Roman Catholic, you join the Confirmation Class. At the Confirmation service, you will be Received into the fellowship of this church.

How to become a member of this church

If you have been Baptized or Confirmed in another parish of the Episcopal Church and want to become a member of S. Mary’s parish, you ask, in writing, the Rector of parish in which you were confirmed to send a letter transferring you to the pastoral care of the Rector of S. Mary’s. (See Home page for address.)
