 S. Mary's Walkers, Runners, Bikers, Crawlers will join other Falmouth and Portland faith communities this year for the annual Walk for Habitat for Humanity.  This Sunday, please pledge your intention by putting your name on a foot (if you intend to walk), a hand (if you can help at registration) or a dollar bill (if you are willing to sponsor a walker).   Then join us at St. Pius X (492 Ocean Ave in Portland) for a kick-off barbecue at noon on May 4 and a 4.5 mile walk through Payson Park and around Baxter Boulevard!

Speakers Forum for Sunday, May 4th from 4 to 5:30

 Ready, Set…and Not Going Yet!

This event offers a quick, fun forum for electing your preferences regarding final arrangements.  Quick and fun!

  • Spare your partner/family the angst of reading your mind regarding funeral arrangements!

  • Spend less than an hour, save money and cross this off your life list!

Attendees will be given a check list packet and a map.  The map will show a path through our Parish House rooms.  As you stroll through the rooms you will check off your preferences related to the topic of the room.  The room topics include; e.g., your preferred resting place, service type, music requests, etc.  A volunteer will facilitate in each room.  Finish the walk and you will have a document for your safe deposit box!  Refreshments will be served.  Bring your friends for a second opinion!

The material has been designed to work for attendees of any/no faith.  It does include  information designed specifically for Episcopalians but you will find it will work for you!

Tea for visiting friends from Foreside Harbor

On Thursday, May 8th, at 2:00 in the afternoon, Saint Mary’s will welcome friends from Foreside Harbor to a tour of the church, followed by a lovely spring tea.  If you would like to help—setting up, pouring tea, contributing tea sandwiches/cookies/other goodies, or joining in the welcome, please speak with the rector.

S. Mary’s Bridge-a-Thon - Friday, May 16th, 1-4pm

Bridge enthusiasts of all skill levels, it’s time to reserve your table.  Plan on joining us for this lovely afternoon of bridge, conversation, great refreshments, prizes and raffles.  Gather your bridge friends, and call the Parish office to reserve your table, 781-3366.

Rector’s Awards Breakfast

It’s that time again:  time for the Second Annual Rector’s Awards Breakfast, when parishioners are singled out for “Meritorious or Mysterious Service”.  Mark the date:  Sunday, May 18th.  Breakfast begins at 9:00.  All are invited; please sign up in the Guild Room so that we know how much to prepare.

HOSPITALITY - May 18th Rector's Awards Breakfast sign up sheets are in the Guild Room. We'll need volunteers for set up/serving/clean up and breakfast contributions...fruit, muffins/breads/coffee cakes, juices. This was a very popular and entertaining event last year.

Guiding RAY - Christian Formation classes for children in Preschool through 6th Grade are held every Sunday morning from 10:00 -10:40 am in the Parish House.  Grade school children then meet their parents in church for Communion.  Preschool & Kindergarten children join their parents in church once a month and Nursery Care is offered (children under four) in the lower level of the Parish House for the entire service.  The Guiding RAY yearly theme is God's Chosen People and the May lesson is called: Saints of Our Time and focuses on four Godly men and women who have lived since 1850.  If you would like to register your child, or are interested in teaching during the spring sessions, please speak to Meg Hurdman or email hurdman@maine.rr.com
