Giving to the Church of S. Mary the Virgin

Nothing truly belongs to us; everything actually belongs to God.

Giving for immediate needs:
        S. Mary's is a lively church, where participation in the active Sunday School programs, youth activities, and community outreach services help parishioners to fulfill the church's mission.  S. Mary's beautiful church, parish house and rectory and the surrounding grounds need regular maintenance in order to serve the hundreds of people who use these facilities each week.
The faithful are drawn to S. Mary's worship services and seasonal celebrations for inspiration to connect with others.  These services  include magnificent music from talented singers, instrumentalists and a gifted organist, and require a high level of financial resources.
Your gift to S. Mary's is vital to the quality of our worship services, Christian education programs and outreach services.  To make a contribution or to pledge annual support, checks can be sent to S. Mary the Virgin, 43 Foreside Road, Falmouth, Maine  04105, or by calling 207-781-3366.
        Thank you

Giving from generation to generation:

Parishioners and friends are encouraged to make planned gifts that will help ensure the future of S. Mary's.  Planned gifts and bequests from earlier generations have created, nurtured and sustained our church.  Now it is our turn to ensure the future.
Those who identify their intention to support S. Mary's through a bequest, a life insurance policy, an annuity or charitable remainder gift, or by another form of deferred giving will become lifetime members of S. Mary's legacy society.
From time to time, S. Mary's hosts programs with professional advisors, clergy and medical personnel, so that parishioners and friends can learn more about important topics that they should discuss with their own financial, legal, medical and spiritual consultants.
For further information or to share your intentions, please contact S. Mary's at 207-781-3366, or mail to S. Mary's, 43 Foreside Road, Falmouth, Maine.

Sharing time and talents:
Christian stewardship involves the faithful management of all the gifts God has given to us:  money, the created world, time and talents.  S. Mary's depends on gifts of time and talent to sustain its ministries, maintain the physical plant and support the congregational programs.  Please click on Volunteer Opportunities to explore all the options, and contact the church to become involved.  You and your time and talents will be warmly welcomed.

Conserving resources for future generations:
        S. Mary's recycles.  When you are at S. Mary's, please help conserve resources for future generations by recycling paper, paperboard, glass, plastics, metals and by using the appropriate receptacles.  Parishioners volunteer each week to dispose of the materials by using recycling facilities in Falmouth.

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

“The point is this:  he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.  Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good work.  As it is written,

                        ‘He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor;

                        his righteousness endures for ever.’

“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness.  You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God; for the rendering of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God.  Under the test of this service, you will glorify God by your obedience in acknowledging the gospel of Christ, and by the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others; while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God in you.  Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!”
