Continuing improvements to our Guiding RAY spaces necessitate holding Nursery and Guiding RAY activities upstairs in the Parish House this Sunday  
9:30:  Nursery with Alison Hayward and Rose Claar, “Kneeler Room”  – Auditorium Entrance to Parish House
 9:30 am:  Family Chapel  – Father James Chapel
9:45:  Registration for Guiding RAY – Guild Room Entrance, with Guiding RAY Teambuilding event to follow
10:40:  Children escorted to church for Eucharist
Cookout/Carnival to follow the 10am Service

  WELCOME HOME Cookout and Celebration
Following the 10am Service , please join the festive “Welcome Home” from all of our summer travels.  In addition to the picnic, we can use helpers for the carnival held (weather permitting) on the front lawn of the campus.  Helpers are needed for all of the fun–some events kids love include relay races, face painting, pastel drawings, guessing games, bingo, lawn bowling, and of course, the bounce house.  Or bake cupcakes for the Cake Walk!  If you can help monitor a game or bake, please seek out  Heather Gale Sunday morning, or email at  hpgale@earthlink.net .
For the picnic, we offer hamburgers, hotdogs and provide everages. Families are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share. If your last name begins with

Autumn Opportunities and Events

SCARF-MAKING PARTY!  September 19, 5-7pm
Join Barbara Bell in the auditorium to create winter scarves that will be distributed by our youth to those in need in Portland and elsewhere.  Just bring scizzors and an appetizer or snack to share!  Parents  are also welcome!  Sign-up sheet is outside the Guild Room. FALL MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENT @ The Cathedral of Saint Luke
Friday – Sunday, November 14-16
For all of those in grades 6 -8, this is a fun retreat weekend at the Cathedral with

High School News!

S. Mary’s is offering and encouraging our High School students to consider two groups/opportunities this year!

Young Life of Casco Bay:  First Club on Wednesday, October 8.   Young Life’s new area director, Jordan Droge, has moved into the area.  Plans are underway to build the work of Young Life in every High School from Portland to Freeport.  Mark your calendars now for the first rocking Club of the Fall with Jordan on October 8th! FMI: nathanferrell@smary.org

The “Saint Mary’s High School Community Service Group” will serve as a vehicle for service, fellowship and spirituality for high schoolers.  This new group will focus on two fo S. Mary’s established outreach programs:  Preble Street Soup Kitchen (Serving lunch on the 4th Sunday of every month)
and Souper Supper (Serving dinner on the 2nd and 4th Friday evenings of every month)

Mindful Movement and Breath Series
Resumes Monday, Sept 15!  9-9:45AM
What a great way to start your work-week!  Drop the kids off at the bus or at school and drop in for sessions of this six week class that seeks to connect the body mind and spirit.  Each class is structured around a universal meditation/intention, threading quiet movement and breath through a musical journey designed to create space and drop each participant more deeply into themselves.  These movements may be done from a chair or the floor, so are suitable to all ages and physical abilities.  Held in the Auditorium.  Open to and offered at no charge to YOU and the community at large.
