Thy Kingdom Come: 10 Days of Prayer

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have launched an ecumenical worldwide prayer movement called “Thy Kingdom Come”. It is designed to focus the prayers of Christians worldwide during the days of the original prayer novena, the days from the Ascension of the Lord to the Pentecost. This movement is quite simple. All disciples of Jesus are invited to pray for more people to know and to love Christ and, on the basis of this, to be engaged in making the kingdom of God real in the places where we live.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the central figure of the global Anglican Communion, released this video to launch Thy Kingdom Come. Please watch it. It is quite inspirational!

On this side of the Atlantic, Thy Kingdom Come has not caught on as a viral movement. However, Saint Mary’s will be praying during these days in conjunction with our sisters and brothers around the world. Beginning on Thursday 25 May, at our Chapel Eucharist in honor of the Ascension, we will join this prayer movement. And we will conclude on Sunday 4 June when we remember the birth of the church on the day of Pentecost.
