Frequently asked questions
I give to Saint Mary’s annually. Can I shift my annual giving to the Heritage Campaign?
Donating to the capital campaign is important but secondary to annual giving.
When considering a gift, please remember that donating whether it’s annually, monthly or weekly is the most important way parishioners can support Saint Mary’s. We must be able to meet our obligations to our mission work, ministries, staffing, utilities and our diocesan assessment. This year’s annual giving campaign will kick off soon and is being chaired by Chris Martin and Victoria Kurtz.
I’m not sure what to give to the capital campaign.
Giving should be joyful not stressful. And our parishioners give in so many ways. We all share our wisdom, works and wealth in a variety of ways, for example:
singing in the choir,
serving on a committee like Buildings & Grounds, Altar Flower Guild or Ushers,
helping with our outreach efforts, like Souper Supper or Saint Elizabeth’s Essential Pantry,
serving as a lector or Eucharistic Minister,
helping with memorial receptions, and
volunteering for Sparkles—just to name a few!!
Sharing our time with our mission, ministries, guilds and committees enrich our lives tremendously. It’s often helpful to speak with a trusted financial advisor to determine the best way to structure a capital contribution. Campaign gifts come in all sizes and we are grateful for every donation.
Why does the pledge period last for 3 years?
Having a defined pledge period allows donors to structure their gift to meet their personal financial and philanthropic goals. Some people make their pledge and pay it immediately. Others like to spread out their capital campaign pledge payments for tax reasons. As the donor, you are always in the driver’s seat so let us know what works best for you.
How will donors be acknowledged?
As we did with the Legacy Campaign, we will have a plaque listing all of our donors. Donors will not be separated by giving lives as we are all equal before God. Some people opt to remain anonymous. The Heritage Campaign pledge form allows donors to advise us on how they wish to be acknowledged.
Is the campaign applying for grants from foundations?
The Campaign Committee is looking at private foundations and grant programs for funding to support these projects. However, to date, we haven’t been successful but we will continue to seek opportunities as we find them. If you know of a family foundation or other potential funding source, please contact Janet Bowne
