Organ Restoration
Our beautiful Casavant Fréres tracker organ
We are blessed with a world-renowned Casavant Fréres pipe organ of historic significance, approaching 50 years old. The organ helps shape how we pray, sing, mourn, and celebrate. It is the foundation of our music program. Its deterioration threatens more than sound; it affects how we gather, remember, and rejoice as a community.
Currently, the organ is not fully functional and is in dire need of major refurbishing. The organ work is closely tied to the church building’s repairs. The issues with the masonry are affecting not only the organ and also the choir loft. True to its classic origin, the pipe organ has manual stops, and several of these need to be replaced. The organ has never been thoroughly cleaned, and the old metal pipes are full of dirt, debris, falling masonry dust, and bat waste. As a result, the sound, which is created with windoscillating the air in the pipes, is adversely affected.
These pipes are original and have become an integral part of the organ’s heritage, so it is our goal to restore as many as possible. The refurbishment includes doors that will protect the pipes from damage from dust and dirt, when the organ is not in use.
